On June 15, 2022, LAUSD presented the Cultural Arts Passport Plan as part of the 100-Day Plan report. LAUSD’s Cultural Arts Passport program is an innovative educational initiative designed to provide students in grades K-12 with a variety of cultural experiences.
In partnership with Southern California’s finest cultural organizations and venues, this program ensures equal access to arts and culture for every child, many of whom would not otherwise have this breadth of opportunities. The CAP provides opportunities for students to engage in experiential learning with different cultural institutions throughout the diverse Los Angeles community. According to a study from the University of Arkansas, “...enriching field trips contribute to the development of students. ...who possess more knowledge about art, have stronger critical-thinking skills, exhibit increased historical empathy, display higher levels of tolerance, and have a greater taste for consuming art and culture.”
